The Engineering Guidelines for Subdivision and Development are a local version of Aus-Spec Design, Construction and Standard Drawing Development Specification series.
The Engineering Guidelines for Subdivision and Development are made of three parts, being:
i. Aus-Spec - Development Specification Series - Design
ii. Aus-Spec - Development Specification Series - Construction
iii. Aus-Spec- Development Specification Series - Standard Drawings
These Guidelines must be referenced throughout the planning, design, and construction phases of all development proposals. They provide technical specifications that establish consistency and set the minimum standard for subdivision and development works within Kempsey Shire.
The Engineering Guidelines for Subdivision and Development are referenced throughout the Kempsey Development Control Plan (DCP) and should be read in conjunction with Development Applications, approvals, and associated conditions.
Council has undertaken a review of the regional version of the Aus-Spec #1 Design and Construction Development Specification series and updated parts to ensure consistency with industry best practice and standards. The updated series are shown below and may be uploaded by clicking the links.
To enable a transition period the previous AUS-SPEC will be accessible until 18th November 2025.
Council acknowledges that the documented specifications will not cover every situation or site-specific circumstance and views its approach to developing these standards as key to a long-term partnership
that supports industry innovation. Council is genuinely committed to working with industry to define practical and meaningful standards that deliver for our community.
