Animals in care
To help reunite pets with owners or find them a new home, we've created a register of the animals in our care.
With the help of Friends of Kempsey Pound volunteers, many animals in care are fostered to temporary homes where they live with families rather than at the pound.
There is a mandatory holding period of 7 days for non-microchipped animals and 14 days for microchipped animals. When this period ends, animals usually become available for adoption through Council and also placed with registered pet rescue associations.
Some animals will kept on the not-for-adoption list if there are health or other safety issues.
We highlight some of the pets in our care as a further way to help get them into their loving forever homes.
Where the real name of an animal is not known, a name is given to them by their carers.
