Community Engagement and Participation Strategy

Council’s Community Engagement and Participation Strategy(PDF, 788KB), updated and adopted in May 2025, outlines how we involve our community in shaping the decisions, plans, and services that affect them.

As part of the Integrated Planning and Reporting (IP&R) framework, this strategy ensures that engagement is inclusive, transparent, and based on the social justice principles of access, equity, participation, and rights.

It sets out the methods and approaches we use to connect with different groups in our community, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to Council’s planning and decision-making processes.

The strategy plays a vital role in the development and review of key documents such as the Community Strategic Plan, Delivery Program, and Operational Plan. It supports a collaborative approach between Council, residents, businesses, and other stakeholders—ensuring that our plans reflect the diverse needs, values, and aspirations of the community we serve.
