Crescent Head Holiday Park maintenance shed update
Published on 03 July 2023
Kempsey Shire Council is installing a maintenance shed at the Crescent Head Holiday Park. This will be used to store ground keeping and other equipment as well as cabin and camping supplies for the caravan park and neighbouring foreshore maintenance.
The Holiday Park has needed additional storage capacity for some time. This has become an issue due to the loss of storage space previously used at the tennis court clubhouse due to the upcoming redevelopment.
The project has required the temporary closure pathway through the caravan park, connecting Crescent Head town centre to the foreshore. We will reopen the footpath as soon as possible, however contractor availability is likely to cause some delay. The new path will run down the western side of the maintenance shed.
We have received some criticism over the project.
The shed does block the view for cars and pedestrians. Unfortunately, there was no other suitable location for this shed in the already constrained Holiday Park site.
Community members have also suggested we should have communicated the details of the project more clearly in advance. We accept this feedback and we are sorry to have failed to inform the community effectively. The response from the community will inform our future projects.
We are also aware that glare from the shed roof is impacting Country Club patrons. We are taking steps to reduce the glare in consultation with the club.
Landscaping will also be carried out around the shed which should reduce glare and improve the overall aesthetic.
We appreciate your patience while we deliver this essential project.
