Summer in the Macleay Valley is about to get even better for residents living with disabilities. The beach mobility aid trial has been extended, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the region's stunning beaches with free access to beach wheelchairs and all-terrain walkers.

This initiative highlights Council's commitment to creating an inclusive community. With thanks to the Macleay Disability Inclusion Group, this program provides vital access to mobility aids that make our world-class beaches accessible to all.

The beach mobility aids can be booked with ease through the Council’s website.

Where to Access Mobility Aids:

• Crescent Head: Wheeleez all-terrain rollator walker

• Hat Head: Hippocampe beach wheelchair (Extra Large)

• Horseshoe Bay, South West Rocks: Hippocampe beach wheelchair (Medium)

Key Information:

• Booking Duration: Full day hire from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

• Pick-up/Return: Anytime between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm. Expect delays during peak times (9:30 am - 10:30 am and 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm).

Things to Consider: Before booking, it's important to assess the user’s specific needs and ensure that the mobility aid suits them. All wheelchair users will need a carer or assistant for transferring and pushing the chair, especially on sand.

How to Book:

1. Hire is free, but pre-booking with at least 2 business days' notice is required.

2. Read the user guides and conditions of use before booking.

3. Complete the online booking request form.

4. For availability, contact Council’s Customer Service team at (02) 6566 3200, Monday to Friday, between 9 am and 4 pm.

5. Photo ID will be required upon collection.

6. Items must be picked up and returned to the relevant holiday park office.

Council is proud to champion this program, which opens the door for all residents to enjoy the beauty of our local beaches, ensuring no one is left out of the summer fun. This is more than just a service—it's a statement of inclusion, making our community stronger and more connected.
