Road repairs on the way

Our roads are peppered with potholes, exacerbated by months of wet weather, which have not only damaged the roads, but slowed down the capacity of road crews to repair that damage.

In addition, this most recent flood event has created a fresh set of problems for our road crews, with several bridge washouts, at least 12 road slips identified so far, and extensive damage to sealed roads, adding to the existing catalogue of scheduled road repairs.

Road teams have been working to repair major damages, such as Majors Bridge at Moparrabah Road, which is now open, and Ryans Cut, with work continuing over the weekend and into this week.

Crews have also been out in force across the shire capturing damage to roads, bridges and stormwater infrastructure, data which will help inform work schedules, grant applications, and funding allocations.

We are working with SES, NSW Rural Fire Service and other partner agencies to make sure we record and calculate the true impact of this devastating weather event. This is critical for guaranteeing the support we will need from State and Federal government to make community assets and facilities safe again.

If you notice flood damage to Council assets and property you can report it by:
  • Contacting customer service on 6566 3200 Monday to Friday 9am-4:30pm.
  • Completing the Report an Issue form on the website: ksc.pub/contact

We understand that the condition of the roads are frustrating and, in some places, require care to navigate safely. We ask for your patience and continued vigilance as you drive, understanding that we are aware of the damage and are working hard to put things in place so that our roads can be repaired as quickly as possible.'
