The first in a series of community catch-ups took place last week in Frederickton.

Community catch-ups are a forum where members of the community can ask questions, discuss areas of interest within their local area and share their thoughts to shape the vision for the future.

What we saw

The first catch-up of 2021 at Frederickton saw 30 community members, four Councillors including, were Dean Saul, Leo Haulville, Mark Baxter and Bruce Morris and various members of the senior leadership staff from Kempsey Shire Council in attendance.

What we heard

When considering the future local vision for the area, community members from Collombatti and Frederickton highlighted some key themes which will now serve as a guide in future planning for the two areas:

  • Great place to live work and play
  • Tourism opportunities
  • Opportunities for young people
  • Sustainable growth
  • Industry development
  • Good infrastructure
  • Natural environment – river
  • Education and employment opportunities
  • Healthy and active community

What’s next?

The next community catch-up is slated to take place on 6 May at the Slim Dusty Centre in Kempsey.
