Hazard reduction burn scheduled for Spooners Avenue

Published on 23 May 2023

NSW Rural Fire Service has advised they have scheduled a hazard reduction burn for 644 Spooners Avenue, Collombatti for Wednesday 24 and 25 May.

This will involve prescribed burning of vegetation to minimise bushfire fuel and mitigate the impact of potential bushfires during extreme weather conditions.

As the prescribed burn will generate smoke, hot embers and heat, it is important that you:

  • Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke from entering your homes.
  • Protect outdoor furniture from ember burns by covering it.
  • Remove pool covers to prevent damage from embers.
  • Take down washing from clotheslines.
  • Provide a protected area for your pets.
  • When driving, slow down, keep windows up, and turn on headlights.
  • If you have asthma or a lung condition, limit outdoor activities. Seek medical advice if you experience breathing difficulties due to smoke.

For more information or inquiries, contact the RFS Lower North Coast at (02) 6563 7100 between 9 am and 4:30 pm on weekdays. Visit www.rfs.nsw.gov.au for prescribed burning details and property preparedness.

Please note that the hazard reduction burn will be postponed if weather conditions are unfavorable on the scheduled days.
