Council staff have been hard at work during the past few weeks at the Verge and Eden Street Sporting Complex. The works team is making great progress towards the completion of the project, thanks to funding provided by the NSW state government. Groundworks Groundworks have been underway over the course of the past two weeks involving lazer levelling the soccer and cricket field using 1500m3 of soil and turf underlay, to ensure a better playing surface. The area will also have 2500m2 of turf installed, making it one of the premier grounds in Kempsey and ready for use for the 2021 soccer season! Running Track Construction of the running track has begun and will include the installation of 4 exercise stations. These stations have been designed by local exercise physiologists to ensure people of all ages and abilities will be able to utilise the equipment. The running track will include a 2.4m crushed and compacted gravel surface, making it suitable for wheel chair access. Lighting The tender for the lighting went up at the council meeting on 16 February 2021 and includes Verge 1, Verge 2, Eden 2, Eden 3, the netball courts and solar lighting for the running track.
