Mountain Designs GeoQuest 48hour adventure race

South West Rocks will host the Australian leg of the Mountain Designs 48 hour GeoQuest Adventure Race on the June long weekend.

Supported by Macleay Valley Coast up to 400 people including competitors, support crews, family and friends from around the country are expected to attend and stay in the area.  

What is the race about?

The race is held annually on the weekend of the Queen’s Birthday in June. The location of the course is moved each year to a different area to pose exciting new challenges for competitors. 

Each competitor in a team of four completes 48 hours of non-stop endurance racing in the major sporting disciplines of trekking, mountain biking and kayaking. 

The Geo-Half adventure race runs simultaneously with the Mountain Designs GeoQuest. The Geo-Half covers only half the distance but teams have the full 48hrs to complete it. The legs will be challenging but with the additional time available to complete the half course, teams have a greater chance to reach the finish line before time is up. 

Where can I view the race?

The course is not disclosed until hours before the race. What we can tell you is that the race will take in a lot of the shire. However, the race will start and finish in South West Rocks. 

So be on the lookout for these extreme athletes as they traverse across the shire seeking to complete their GeoQuest!
