Summary

The Kempsey Local Growth Management Strategy is the key strategic land use planning document by which Council establishes how and where projected population and employment growth are to be accommodated over the next twenty years.

The Local Growth Management Strategy considers the following:

  • Housing choice, demand and availability 
  • Employment land (commercial and industrial zoned land)
  • Landscape and local character
  • Growth area infrastructure

The Local Growth Management Strategy was adopted by Council on 27 June 2023.

Background

In 2022, Council sought community feedback on the following draft documents:

  • Employment Lands Audit
  • Scenic Protection Layer Review 
  • Local Character Statement Review
  • Local Housing Strategy.

These documents inform the Local Growth Management Strategy.
