Slim Dusty Centre renewable energy installation
- Completion Date15 March 2023
Summary
Council has invested in renewable energy systems at the Slim Dusty Centre including 99 kilowatt solar PV panels to power the centre and two electric vehicle charging stations.
The electric vehicle charging stations will attract more visitors to the centre and also put it on the map as an electric vehicle charging destination.
Drivers can access and locate the electric vehicle charging station through the app PlugShare.
Timeframe
The solar panel installation finished in 2022. Within December 2022, analytics showed that the panels produced 7MWh of energy, which is enough to watch 56,499 episodes of a television series. The results also displayed that at least 80% of energy use at the Slim Dusty Centre is supported by the solar panels.
The installation of the electric vehicle charging stations was installed in February and March 2023.
Funding
Council matched funding received from the Australian Government's Building Better Regions Fund with both providing $93,500 towards the $187,000 project.
Background
