Crescent Head Water Treatment Plant
Background
Kempsey Shire Council is building a new water treatment plant at Crescent Head. Crescent Head is a popular tourism destination for locals and visitors alike. With a population of up to 6,400 people during peak periods, safe drinking water is essential.
The new water treatment plant will replace the existing, basic treatment system. The project includes detailed design and construction of the new water treatment plant, with infrastructure for water treatment, storage, pumping and distribution
Status
We are currently in the planning phase and the new plant is being designed to:
- treat raw water supplied from three existing borehole pumps located at Maguire’s Crossing Borefield
- have a peak daily treated water capacity of 1.08 ML/day
Project benefits
- Build modern, critical infrastructure to support population growth and economic development
- Provide treated water to the community that complies with NSW Health legislation and Australian Drinking Water Guidelines
- Mitigate public health risks associated with supplying water currently containing unacceptable levels of pathogens and solid contaminants.
