The South West Rocks Library is a long-standing community space that provides lending and information services, access to a wide range of online resources and activities for all members of the community.

The refurbishment of the existing building includes:

  • internal and external improvements, including painting and an open-plan layout.

  • an upgraded timber deck and improved accessibility features including a walkway, landing and handrails

  • new toilet facilities

  • enhanced security and lighting.

Status

Council is inviting quotes from suitably qualified and experienced contractors for the refurbishment works during May 2025.

The project is expected to be complete by early 2026.

Funding

The project is funded through a combination of grant funding and Council’s general fund.

Background

Council investigated the feasibility of developing a new library and community hub in South West Rocks to replace the existing demountable building.
