Summary

Council will make a series of improvements to the Willawarrin Showground precinct to provide residents, visitors and event holders with a multi-purpose space and modern facilities.

The $600,000 improvement project includes a new canteen and administration building, amenities and a playground, as well as work on the showground surface and roads.

Timeframe

Construction began in November 2022 with the installation of the new canteen and administration building. As of December 2022 and January 2023, the internal and external fit out as well as utility connections are being carried out.

The remaining parts of the project will be completed in a phased roll-out.

Funding

This project has been financed through a combination of funding from Council, the NSW Government's Bushfire Community Resilience and Economic Recovery Fund - Phase 1 and the Australian Government's National Bushfire Recovery Fund.

Background

In late 2018, Council hosted a Community Catch-up event at Willawarrin Hall to collect community feedback on how residents would like to see the area improved. The community expressed a desire for upgrades to the facilities and sports fields in the area surrounding the soccer field and showground.
