The tour explains how Council sources, stores and manages drinking water for Kempsey, Frederickton, Smithtown, Gladstone and surrounding rural areas, and provides an update on construction progress for the new Water Treatment Plant, a major infrastructure investment for the Macleay Valley
Steuart McIntyre Dam supplies drinking water to more than 18,000 residents. This major project, funded by all levels of government and Council, includes new treatment infrastructure, pumps, storage tanks and network upgrades to strengthen the region's resilience to drought and future demand.
