Summary

Gladstone wharf is being replaced after being washed away in recent floods. Construction signage and site fencing will be installed to barrier any hazards and give clear direction during the construction works. 

Timeframe

Works are expected to begin in June 2024.

Funding

The project is jointly funded by the NSW State Government and Federal government from natural disaster funding.

Progress to date

August 2023: upon approval of funding, a design and construction contract was awarded.

April 2024: Detailed design complete.

June 2024: Ready to begin construction.

July 2024: Demolition works for removal of existing structure. Commencement, installation and completion of piles.

August 2024: Significant delays for wharf material delivery encountered due to supplier issues.

January 2025: Council crews take over project works.

February 2025: Wharf materials obtained.

Construction to commence after completion of Smithtown Wharf

Background

Gladstone wharf was washed away in recent floods, and as an essential facility for residents and visitors, its replacement is required.
